Introducing Divita Juneja in Heer Express
Following the success of Aneet Padda from Amritsar in Saiyaara, another talent from Ambala is ready to captivate audiences. Meet Divita Juneja, who takes on the lead role in Heer Express.
Directed by Umesh Shukla, known for films like Oh My God and 102 Not Out, this movie is penned and produced by Sanjay Grover. The film features a stellar cast, including Ashutosh Rana, Sanjay Mishra, Gulshan Grover, and Prit Kamani.
During the promotional event that began in Chandigarh on Monday, Divita was supported by the renowned Gulshan Grover, who is also the proud father of producer Sanjay Grover. Displaying his Punjabi roots, Gulshan shared insights during an interview with a local Media House.
While he expressed concern over the flooding in Punjab, he chose not to discuss his charitable efforts, stating, “Who are we to ‘donate’? Seva is a fundamental aspect of our culture, and I prefer not to publicize it.”
Heer Express tells the story of a young woman who relocates from Punjab to London to chase her aspirations. Gulshan enthusiastically recounted how Divita was discovered by Sidharth Malhotra at an awards ceremony, leading to her audition with director Umesh Shukla, who immediately recognized her potential for the film. “Shukla informed Sanjay that he saw in Divita the ability to lead a women-centric narrative, and here we are!” he remarked.
However, the path to success was not without its hurdles. From challenges during the look test to falls while horse riding, Divita's poise and determination earned her the team's trust. “Sanjay treats Divita like a sister and is very protective of her. She has built a strong rapport with Ashutosh and Sanjay (Mishra) as well,” Gulshan noted.
A trained dancer and singer, Divita described her experience in this role as an ‘intensive acting masterclass’. “When a director like Umesh Shukla believes in you, it boosts your confidence. Acting alongside Grover sir and the talented cast, including Meghna (Malik) ma’am, has helped me grow immensely!”
While highlighting Divita's journey, we also inquired about Gulshan's most challenging role in his extensive career spanning over 100 films in various languages. “Every role presents unique challenges. I recently worked on Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and adapting to this young, promising talent's vision was quite a challenge,” he shared.
Gulshan expressed admiration for his friend Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan and pride in his own son Sanjay, whom he hopes to see on screen in the future. “Sanjay believes that family dramas are becoming rare in Indian cinema. Heer Express is our contribution to reviving that genre!”
The film is set to release in theaters on September 12.
